Designing the built environment so as to leave to future generations a better place than we received

Essential to our design ethic is a commitment to sustainable architecture and a belief that architecture should make a didactic as well as physical contribution to the community.  We want to leave to future generations a better environment than we received.

Kay Endriss

from Kay Endriss:

Check out the work of James Paul Gee on video games and literacy:

http://www.learncentral.org/node/53213

I find his work to be highly applicable to education in general, with or without technology or gaming.

In his book “What video games have to teach us about learning and literacy”? he notes the shortcoming of many “educational games” that make content the central focus. You have to make the game the central focus and the content the byproduct of wanting to achieve success in the game. He has a new book coming out soon.
